【1,633 Dialogues in 184 Days!】 Naomi Kawase Reveals the Story Behind Expo 2025’s “Dialogue Theater”
About this video
The “Dialogue Theater – a sign of life –” at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai hosted 1,633 conversations over 184 days. One visitor reportedly came 300 times!
We attended the dialogue research forum “Beyond the 1,633 Dialogues Born at Expo” at Doshisha University in Kyoto on October 26, 2026. Producer and film director Naomi Kawase shares the pavilion's origin and unforgettable moments alongside footage from the Expo.
Discover why closed schools in Totsukawa, Nara and Fukuchiyama, Kyoto were reused, the effort to protect the symbolic ginkgo tree, and personal stories emerging from the dialogues. Kawase also explores ideas such as “the past can change,” how different wording can avoid hurting others, and opening your heart to conversation. The story continues after the Expo.
