Ghost in the Shell Exhibition 2026 in Kobe | The Creative Team Discusses the Series’ Appeal

This video introduces the Kansai touring edition of “Ghost and the Shell,” now being held at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art.

Celebrating 30 years of Ghost in the Shell animation, this is the first large-scale exhibition to span the franchise’s successive anime series. Original drawings, storyboards, design sheets and other rare production materials are brought together to show how the works were created.

The footage was recorded at the press preview on July 16, 2026.

The talk features director Moko-chan, who is working on the TV anime “THE GHOST IN THE SHELL” scheduled to begin airing in July 2026; Kodansha producer Daichi Sasa; and Isao Kuwana, the Mori Building executive director who supervised production of the exhibition.

They discuss the appeal of a series passed between different directors and production teams over 37 years, the ideas behind the new anime, and the pleasure of viewing original drawings and production materials in person.

The second half shows the Archive Console, original art, storyboards and design materials from past series, Tachikoma displays, cyborg-body exhibits and the overall venue.
