On October 27, 2026, Tokyo Disneyland announced that its new attraction, “Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue,” will have its grand opening on Thursday, April 15, 2027!
The world’s first attraction themed to Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph invites guests to join Ralph and Vanellope in a game to save a candy-filled world. The opening falls on Tokyo Disneyland’s 44th anniversary.
Even before the ride opens, special decorations, a mini-game, and projections at Cinderella Castle will roll out starting in January 2027. Here’s what has been announced and when you can enjoy it.

Save the candy world with Ralph and Vanellope!

“Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue” takes place inside the brightly colored candy-themed racing game Sugar Rush. King Candy, who wants to take over the game, has turned gummy candies, ice cream, and other sweets into creatures called Sugar Bugs.
Guests board three-person vehicles and enter the game world. Using devices installed on their vehicles, they work with Ralph and Vanellope to turn the Sugar Bugs back into the adorable treats they once were.
Rescue sweets to earn points!
One of the ride’s main features is its scoring system: guests earn points based on the types and number of sweets they restore. Scores appear on the vehicle’s display and can also be viewed for a limited time afterward in the Tokyo Disney Resort app.
After riding with friends or family, you can compare how many sweets you saved. Newly recorded music by Henry Jackman, who composed the score for Wreck-It Ralph, adds to the game’s atmosphere.
The attraction will also offer ride photos. Images taken during the experience are automatically added to “My Photos” in the app, where guests can purchase them.
Note: To view your score and ride photos in the app, you must open the app on your smartphone and turn on Bluetooth before riding. Ride photos are available for purchase for 30 days from the date they are taken.
Location: Tomorrowland | Ride time: about 4 minutes

The attraction will be located in Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland. It is an indoor ride built by renovating the former Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters attraction space.
- Grand opening: Thursday, April 15, 2027
- Location: Tomorrowland, Tokyo Disneyland
- Ride duration: Approximately 4 minutes
- Capacity: 3 guests per vehicle
- Ride features: Dark environments, spinning movements, and loud sounds
The official website also states that children may ride while seated on an adult’s lap. This looks set to be a fun way for families to explore the game world together.
Standby Pass and Disney Premier Access available
The official attraction page lists the ride as eligible for the free Standby Pass and paid Disney Premier Access services. Standby Passes are obtained through the Tokyo Disney Resort app after entering the park.
Check the official guidance for the day of your visit for the current entry procedures and service availability. If this attraction is a priority, having the app ready before your visit will help.
Special opening celebrations begin in January 2027

Around three months before the grand opening, a series of activities inspired by the world of Wreck-It Ralph will begin.
- From Tuesday, January 12: A smartphone training mini-game and distribution of limited-edition stickers
- From Thursday, February 18: Attraction-themed decorations appear in Tomorrowland
- From Thursday, March 18: Projection-mapping effects debut at Cinderella Castle
The mini-game can be played at home. In selected areas of the park, a special version will incorporate the real surroundings as its backdrop. Guests can also access the game using the QR code printed on the back of the limited-edition stickers.
So even before opening day, there will be opportunities to take photos in the park and get an early taste of the film’s world.
Pixel Prism shop opens April 15; popcorn stand opens March 17

Next to the attraction, the new merchandise shop “Pixel Prism” is scheduled to open on Thursday, April 15, 2027. With pixel-patterned floors, game-inspired decor, and a large pixel sculpture outside the entrance, the store is designed to feel like part of the game itself.

The popcorn stand “Popping Station” will open earlier, on Wednesday, March 17. Also announced are a new Sugar Lime Popcorn flavor inspired by Sugar Bugs, merchandise featuring characters from the ride, and commemorative food items. Check future announcements for each product’s launch date and price.
Tomorrowland is set for major changes in 2027
Tokyo Disneyland also plans to open “Space Mountain Earthrise” in Tomorrowland in 2027. Other planned additions include “Tomorrowland Plaza” and the food location “Element Express.”
First up is “Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue” on April 15, 2027. As guests dive into the candy-themed game world, it’s also worth keeping an eye on the transformation of Tomorrowland.
