August 2026 Crowd Forecast

Universal Summer Matsuri Night: Neon Glow-Up
Universal Summer Matsuri Night: Neon Glow-Up

USJ will welcome many families and students in August 2026 because it is summer vacation. The Obon holiday is especially likely to be busy. Crowded conditions are forecast from around August 10 to 14, so visitors hoping to enjoy popular attractions or SUPER NINTENDO WORLD should plan to arrive early in the morning.

From August 6 through 23, 2026, most Annual Passes will be blocked out. Except for the Grand Royal Annual Pass, passholders cannot enter during this period, which may help limit attendance. However, Annual Pass users may visit in greater numbers on or before August 5 and on or after August 24, so these dates may be more crowded.

In August, it is also important to plan around the daytime heat. Nighttime summer events are scheduled for 2026, with shows, fireworks, and other entertainment available from evening onward. As a result, attendance may rise from late afternoon into the night as well as during the day. On extremely hot days, consider focusing on the cooler hours instead of trying to pack too many attractions into the daytime.

September 2026 Crowd Forecast

Hamikuma Shout It Out Party

September 2026 marks the start of USJ’s Halloween season. Halloween events and Halloween Horror Nights begin on September 11, and attendance is expected to increase from late afternoon onward.
Silver Week, a five-day holiday period, will likely be extremely crowded.

Even so, September tends to be somewhat calmer than late October or November near the end of the Halloween season. Visitors who want to enjoy Horror Nights may find September a good time to go.

Friday evenings and Saturdays are likely to be crowded. Visitors mainly interested in daytime attractions may find Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday easier to navigate.

A Harry Potter area event will run only in September, so the area may be somewhat crowded.

For daily crowd forecasts and estimated early-opening times before the officially scheduled opening time, see here.

October 2026 Crowd Forecast

October 2026 is when Halloween Horror Nights reaches full swing at USJ. Attendance is likely to be higher than in September, with especially heavy crowds on Friday evenings, Saturdays, three-day weekends, and the weekend just before Halloween.

Last year, extremely crowded and very crowded days were common in late October. In the second half of October 2026, guests coming for Horror Nights and costumes will likely make the entire park especially busy from evening into the night.

For visitors focused on daytime attractions, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the best bets. If staying into the night, ride popular attractions during the day, then enjoy shows and Horror Nights from late afternoon onward.

November 2026 Crowd Forecast

November 2026 is the transition from the end of the Halloween season to Christmas at USJ. If the usual pattern holds, the final days of Halloween Horror Nights will be extremely crowded. Take particular care on November 1 through 3, 7, and 8.

Last year’s holiday period around the final day of Halloween was also extremely crowded. In 2026, guests making a final visit to Horror Nights will likely create heavy crowds from late afternoon onward.

Weekdays after Horror Nights ends tend to be calmer. However, families who avoided the horror events may visit on weekends, so Saturday and Sunday can still be busy. Christmas-event attendance begins increasing in late November, making Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the best choices for a more relaxed visit.

December 2026 Crowd Forecast

In December 2026, Christmas events, winter break, and year-end travel demand overlap, so the park becomes busier later in the month. Weekdays in early December are relatively calm, but attendance rises as Christmas approaches. Be especially mindful of crowds around December 24 and 25.

Last year, crowds remained high after Christmas from December 27 onward, with December 29 and 30 forecast as very to extremely crowded. In 2026, popular attractions will likely have long waits from the morning once the year-end holidays begin.

Visitors who want to enjoy the Christmas tree and nighttime atmosphere may prefer a later visit before closing. To avoid crowds, target Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from early to mid-December.

USJ 2027 Crowd Forecast Calendar

January 2027 Crowd Forecast

In January 2027, the New Year holiday and the three-day weekend that includes Coming of Age Day are likely to be the main crowd peaks. January 2 and 3 are Annual Pass blockout dates, so New Year travel and first-outing demand may bring more visitors from early morning.

Weekdays from January 5 onward should settle down after winter break, making them good targets for visitors focused on attractions. In January 2026, many days had a 7:00 p.m. closing time and none stayed open until 10:00 p.m., so operating hours may also be shorter in 2027.

January 10 is also an Annual Pass blockout date. The three-day weekend from January 9 to 11, including Coming of Age Day, is likely to be crowded, especially around the 10th. For less crowded dates, target Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from mid- to late January.

February 2027 Crowd Forecast

February 2027 is before spring break and is generally one of the calmer, easier times of the year to visit USJ. Many weekdays should be less crowded, so Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are recommended for visitors who want to focus on popular attractions.

Weekends and public holidays will draw more visitors. National Foundation Day falls on Thursday, February 11, 2027, and the Emperor’s Birthday falls on Tuesday, February 23, so neither creates a three-day weekend. Even so, people taking nearby days off and student visitors may increase crowds.

Student promotions and limited-time attractions often begin in February, so crowds can vary depending on the event lineup. For quieter conditions, target weekdays from early to mid-February. For special events, check the latest schedule before choosing your date.

March 2027 Crowd Forecast

USJ will be crowded even on weekdays in March 2027 because of spring break. High school and college students on graduation trips will add to the crowds. Booking a hotel early may help you find a lower rate.

April 2027 Crowd Forecast

USJ will be extremely crowded during spring break in April 2027. It should become less crowded after spring break, while weekdays will likely include many international travelers.

May 2027 Crowd Forecast

USJ is expected to be busiest around Golden Week in May 2027. Many people will have five consecutive days off from May 1 through 5, and taking April 30 off creates a break of up to seven days, so more travelers from farther away and families are likely to visit.
However, Golden Week at USJ is not usually so crowded that it ranks as the busiest day of the entire year.

Festivals and food events are held throughout the Kansai region, travelers spread out among destinations during the long holiday, and standard Annual Passes are blocked out on certain dates. These factors all help distribute the crowds.

For relatively quiet days in May, weekdays after Golden Week are recommended. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday tend to be calmer than weekends or Mondays. In May, however, many kindergartens and elementary schools schedule substitute holidays on Mondays after sports days or classroom observation days, so expect more children and families on Mondays.

June 2027 Crowd Forecast

June 2027 is one of the months with many relatively quiet days at USJ.
As the rainy season begins and unsettled weather becomes more common, attendance tends to ease, so many weekdays will likely receive a less-crowded forecast.

Rainy days can be a good opportunity for visitors who want to focus on indoor attractions such as Mario Kart and Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem.

Weekdays from early to mid-June are expected to offer many opportunities to tour with shorter waits. From after Golden Week in May until summer vacation begins, fewer long-distance travelers and families visit, making this a recommended period for a relaxed USJ trip.

Days with relatively low ticket priceswill also be common. Considering both crowds and prices, June should offer good value.

Summary

USJ is likely to be crowded in 2026 because of its 25th anniversary.

The keys to a successful visit are choosing the right date and planning how to move around during the morning, midday, evening, and night.
