July 2026 Crowd Forecast

NO LIMIT! Glow Up! Oh! Matsuri

USJ’s summer events begin on July 1, 2026, bringing the park into full summer mode. Because the 2026 lineup includes nighttime content for both adults and children, more guests are expected to avoid the daytime heat and arrive from late afternoon. During the hottest season, it can be more comfortable to focus on shows and events after the temperature drops instead of pushing through a packed daytime schedule.

July marks the start of summer vacation, but crowds are still expected to be lighter than in August. Many weekdays from early to mid-July are forecast as “light” or “moderate,” making this a good period for guests who want to enjoy the summer events at a more relaxed pace. Working adults and other visitors hoping to avoid crowds should consider early to mid-July, before school summer vacations are fully underway.
International visitor numbers are also expected to be lower than in a typical year, so weekdays may be quieter than usual.

Be especially careful during the three-day weekend from July 18 to 20. These dates are also blocked out for most Annual Passes, but the combination of a holiday weekend and summer events is still likely to bring more guests from the morning. To experience SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and other popular attractions, plan to enter early and check the distribution status of timed-entry tickets.

Even after summer vacation begins, July is not expected to become as intensely crowded as August. However, guest numbers may rise in the evening. For a visit lasting from afternoon through night, a practical plan is to ride attractions during the day and enjoy events at night.

See the daily crowd forecast and the estimated time the park may open earlier than the officially scheduled opening time.

August 2026 Crowd Forecast

Universal Summer Matsuri Night: Neon Glow Up
Universal Summer Matsuri Night: Neon Glow Up

USJ sees many families and students in August 2026 because of summer vacation. The Obon holiday period is especially likely to be crowded. Consecutive “crowded” days are forecast from around August 10 to 14, so anyone hoping to experience popular attractions or SUPER NINTENDO WORLD should plan to arrive early in the morning.

August 6 through 23, 2026, are Annual Pass blockout dates. Except for Grand Royal Annual Pass holders, Annual Pass guests cannot enter during this period, which may reduce attendance somewhat. However, Annual Pass holders are more likely to visit before August 5 or from August 24 onward, so the days around the blockout period may be particularly busy.

It is also important to plan around the daytime heat in August. Nighttime summer events are scheduled for 2026, with shows, fireworks, and other entertainment available from late afternoon. As a result, some days may become busier from evening into night as well as during the day. In extreme heat, it may be more enjoyable to focus on the cooler hours instead of trying to fit too many attractions into the afternoon.

September 2026 Crowd Forecast

September 2026 marks the beginning of USJ’s Halloween season. The official event dates have not yet been announced, but if the schedule follows the usual pattern, Halloween events and Halloween Horror Nights will begin in early September and bring more visitors from the evening onward.
Silver Week, a five-day holiday period, is expected to be extremely crowded.

September is still generally less crowded than the peak Halloween period in October and November. Guests who want to experience Horror Nights may find September a better time to visit.

Friday evenings and Saturdays are more likely to be crowded. Visitors mainly interested in daytime attractions should consider Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday for an easier touring experience.

A limited September event is scheduled in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, so that area may be slightly busier.

See the daily crowd forecast and the estimated time the park may open earlier than the officially scheduled opening time.

October 2026 Crowd Forecast

Halloween Horror Nights reaches its peak at USJ in October 2026. Attendance is likely to be higher than in September, with particular caution needed on Friday evenings, Saturdays, three-day weekends, and the weekend immediately before Halloween.

Last year, extremely heavy and very heavy crowd days were especially common in late October. The second half of October 2026 is also likely to become crowded throughout the park from evening into night with Horror Nights visitors and guests wearing costumes.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the best options for visitors focusing on daytime attractions. For a full-day visit, ride the most popular attractions before late afternoon, then switch to shows and Horror Nights in the evening.

November 2026 Crowd Forecast

November 2026 is the transition from the final stretch of the Halloween season to Christmas at USJ. If the usual schedule continues, the final days of Halloween Horror Nights will be extremely crowded, particularly around November 1 to 3.

Last year, the holiday weekend around the final Halloween date reached extremely heavy crowd levels. In 2026, many guests are again likely to arrive for one last night of Horror Nights, making the park especially crowded from late afternoon.

Weekdays after Horror Nights ends are usually calmer. However, families who avoided the horror events may return on weekends, so Saturday and Sunday can remain busy. Christmas attendance begins to rise in the second half of November; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are recommended for a more relaxed visit.

December 2026 Crowd Forecast

Christmas events, winter vacation, and year-end travel demand overlap at USJ in December 2026, so crowds generally increase later in the month. Weekdays in early December tend to be calmer, but attendance rises as Christmas approaches, and visitors should be prepared for crowds around December 24 and 25.

Last year, crowds continued after Christmas from December 27 onward, with December 29 and 30 forecast at very heavy to extremely heavy levels. Popular attraction waits are likely to become long from the morning once the 2026 year-end vacation begins.

Guests who want to enjoy the Christmas tree and nighttime atmosphere can also consider visiting later in the evening before closing. To avoid the largest crowds, target Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from early to mid-December.

Period Crowd Level Key Feature

Mid-April Recommended New school year
May Light Busy during Golden Week
June Light Rainy season
July–August Very crowded Summer vacation
September–October and early November Very to extremely crowded Halloween
Mid-November Recommended Gap between major events
Late December Very crowded Year-end holidays

How This Crowd Forecast Is Calculated

This forecast is based on the following factors:

  • Historical crowd data
  • Public holidays, long weekends, and school breaks in Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City
  • Event dates
  • Ticket prices and park hours
  • Annual Pass blockout dates
  • Firsthand visits to the park

The forecast combines multiple factors rather than relying on a single indicator.

USJ 2027 Crowd Forecast Calendar

January 2027 Crowd Forecast

USJ’s biggest January 2027 crowd peaks are expected during the New Year holiday and the three-day weekend that includes Coming of Age Day. January 2 and 3 are Annual Pass blockout dates, and New Year travel and first-outing demand will likely bring more visitors from the morning.

Weekdays from January 5 onward should calm down after winter vacation, making them good choices for guests focused on attractions. In January 2026, the park often closed at 7:00 p.m. and did not stay open until 10:00 p.m., so operating hours may also be shorter in 2027.

January 10 is also an Annual Pass blockout date. The three-day weekend from January 9 to 11, including Coming of Age Day, is likely to be busy, especially around January 10. For lighter crowds, target Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from mid- to late January.

February 2027 Crowd Forecast

Because it falls before spring break, February 2027 should be one of the calmer and easier times to enjoy USJ. Many weekdays are expected to have light crowds, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are recommended for visitors who want to prioritize popular attractions.

Weekends and public holidays are still likely to draw more visitors. National Foundation Day on Thursday, February 11, and the Emperor’s Birthday on Tuesday, February 23, do not create three-day weekends, but crowds may increase as people take nearby days off and students visit the park.

February often brings student promotions and limited-time attractions, so attendance will depend on the event lineup. For lighter crowds, choose a weekday in early to mid-February. For event-focused visits, check the latest schedule before selecting a date.

March 2027 Crowd Forecast

USJ will be crowded even on weekdays in March 2027 because of spring break. High school and college students on graduation trips are likely to contribute to the crowds. Booking a hotel early may make it easier to find a lower rate.

April 2027 Crowd Forecast

USJ is expected to be extremely crowded during spring break in April 2027, then quieter after the break ends. International travelers may make up a larger share of weekday visitors.

May 2027 Crowd Forecast

USJ is expected to be busiest around Golden Week in May 2027. Many people will have a five-day holiday from May 1 through 5, and taking April 30 off could create a vacation of up to seven days. This is likely to increase visits from families and travelers coming from farther away.
However, Golden Week at USJ usually does not reach the level of the single busiest days of the year.

Crowds also spread out because many festivals and food events are held across the Kansai region, travelers choose a wider range of destinations during the long holiday, and blockout dates prevent holders of standard Annual Passes from entering on certain days.

For relatively light crowds in May, weekdays after Golden Week are recommended. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday tend to be calmer than weekends or Mondays. Note that many kindergartens and elementary schools hold sports days or parent observation days in May and schedule a Monday makeup holiday, which can increase visits from families with children.

June 2027 Crowd Forecast

June 2027 is expected to have many relatively uncrowded days at USJ.
As the rainy season begins and unsettled weather becomes more common, attendance tends to decline, and many weekdays are likely to be forecast as “light.”

Rainy days can be especially useful for guests who want to focus on indoor attractions such as Mario Kart and Minion Mayhem Mission.

Weekdays from early to mid-June are expected to offer shorter waits and easier touring. From the end of Golden Week in May until summer vacation begins, fewer long-distance travelers and families visit, making this a good period for a slower-paced USJ trip.

Dates with relatively lower ticket prices are also expected to be common. Considering both crowds and admission prices, June can offer particularly good value.

Four Major Factors That Will Shape USJ Crowds in 2026

1. The 25th anniversary event
Attendance is likely to remain elevated throughout the year.

2. Mario’s 5th anniversary
Limited-time Yoshi greetings and renewed attention for SUPER NINTENDO WORLD’s fifth anniversary may bring more visitors.

3. USJ’s first summer event focused mainly on nighttime entertainment
Will morning attendance decrease, or remain unchanged?

4. Halloween Horror Nights and daytime Halloween events
Attendance will vary depending on the daytime shows and the number and content of horror attractions.
