2026 is the year of USJ’s 25th anniversary celebration!!
There is a parade featuring a new song, along with the return of movie-themed characters who once appeared in popular attractions and shows!
There are also plenty of programs featuring Sesame characters, plus Kuromi and My Melody shows.
March 31 marked the 25th anniversary of USJ’s opening!
More than 600 crew members, or USJ staff, welcomed guests during a spectacular opening ceremony.
A special event was also held where visitors could talk with and take photos alongside USJ characters who are usually difficult to meet up close.

Meet the Back to the Future Time Machine and Dr. Brown
Back to the Future’s Dr. Brown, better known as Doc, returns to USJ with the DeLorean time machine for the first time in 10 years.
Look closely and you’ll see that Doc wears two watches on his right wrist and one on his left—a total of three.

Back to the Future: The Ride closed on May 31, 2016, and the DeLorean is also returning for the first time in 10 years.

The Blues Brothers: Jake and Elwood Greeting
The stars of the 1980 comedy-and-music film The Blues Brothers return to USJ for the first time in 17 years, having last appeared in 2009.
Meet lead vocalist Jake Blues and backing vocalist Elwood Blues.
They also put on a performance when they arrive.
Cookie Monster and Clover also appear as representatives of the color blue!
They help energize the show!!

Kuromi Live: Discover Me Discover U!!!
The My Melody and Kuromi stage show returns in 2026!
Now in its third year, the show takes on new instruments, beatboxing, and sampling.
In the finale, everyone celebrates the 25th anniversary with Kuromi’s version of the new parade song, “The Power of U.”

Back to 2001 Diorama Gallery: Discover U!!!
A full-park diorama created before USJ opened and a photo exhibition looking back on the park’s history since opening are on display inside the park!
The exhibition is divided into three periods, with different content in each one.

Power of Rock: You Rock!
Talented singers deliver an adrenaline-charged rock performance. In addition to classic rock songs everyone knows, they perform a rock arrangement of “The Power of U,” the original song created for the 25th anniversary NO LIMIT! Parade: Discover U!!! Version.

Raptors that escaped from the laboratory attack!!
They look ready to lunge at guests!!
Three raptors appear in total and battle it out.
This event is recommended for elementary-school-age children and older.

Meet two enormous herbivorous dinosaurs.
You can even touch their huge bodies and feel the texture of their skin.

USJ 25th Anniversary Events
In spring, as soon as you pass through the park gates, even the air feels a little different. A special year is coming to Universal Studios Japan. On March 31, 2026, USJ celebrates its 25th anniversary. The theme, presented with gratitude for a quarter century, is “Discover U!!!” It carries two meanings: “Discover You,” finding a side of yourself you never knew, and “Discover USJ,” rediscovering the park’s journey.
The anniversary year runs for about one year, from March 4, 2026, through March 30, 2027. The entire park will be wrapped in celebration, with entertainment on an unprecedented scale planned throughout the year. According to USJ, the heart of the 25th anniversary is the lingering excitement guests take home after freeing their true selves through the park’s intensely stimulating experiences.
USJ has continued to evolve at every milestone. For its 20th anniversary in 2021, for example, the “NO LIMIT!” theme expressed the energy to keep taking on challenges beyond all limits. The NO LIMIT! Street Festival, where characters danced throughout the park, and powerful live shows combining BMX and dance attracted plenty of attention. Even amid the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, USJ’s commitment to delivering the joy of going beyond limits remains in the memories of many fans.
For the 25th anniversary, the focus shifts from “liberation” to “discovery.” While once again shining a light on the power of movies and stories—the park’s roots—USJ aims to awaken the excitement hidden inside every guest. USJ says it wants to provide moments throughout the year when everyone can surprise themselves and smile.
Even after 25 years, USJ continues to evolve. In spring 2026, the moment you pass through the gates, you become the hero of an adventure called “Discover U!!!”

The Detective Conan collaboration attractions, including Conan: The Escape and Mystery Restaurant, return in 2026.
A new Jujutsu Kaisen attraction also debuts!!
Guests can also enjoy the park’s first Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End attraction.
Tips for Enjoying the USJ 25th Anniversary Events
The parade is held once a day starting at 2:00 p.m.
Unless you need a front-row spot, an efficient plan is to eat at a restaurant around 1:00 p.m. and wait along the parade route about 15 minutes before it begins.
There are so many shows that, to enjoy them all in one day, you should check the show schedule released about one week in advance and plan your route.
The popular Kuromi Live tends to be less crowded later in the afternoon, making that a good time to go.
