When visiting USJ with children, one thing you’ll want to check in advance is the height restrictions for attractions.

Depending on the attraction, USJ has height requirements such as 92 cm, 102 cm, 107 cm, 122 cm, and 132 cm.

However,

that does not mean children can ride almost nothing until they reach 122 cm.

With an accompanying person, there are several attractions children can enjoy from 92 cm.

At 107 cm, they can also experience “Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge™” and “Mine-Cart Madness™” in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™.

What does USJ mean by an “accompanying person”? Not just any parent qualifies

At USJ, an “accompanying person” does not simply mean a parent or guardian who came to the park with the child.

The accompanying person must be of junior-high-school age or older and meet the attraction’s usage requirements.

So even if

“My child is now 107 cm, so they can ride Mario Kart,”

the child is expected to ride together with a qualifying accompanying person.

USJ attractions children under 92 cm can ride

You may be wondering,

“My child isn’t 92 cm yet. Will there be anything they can ride at USJ?”

In fact, there are attractions with no height restriction.

However, “no height restriction” does not mean every baby can necessarily use the attraction.

There may be separate usage requirements, such as being able to sit independently on the ride.

Minion Mission: The Path to Becoming a Supervillain

“Minion Mission: The Path to Becoming a Supervillain” has no height restriction.

Children under 122 cm need an accompanying person.

It is an option for children who love the Minions but have not yet reached 92 cm.

Hello Kitty’s Cupcake Dream

This Universal Wonderland attraction spins riders around in cupcake-shaped vehicles.

There is no height restriction, but riders must be able to sit independently and maintain a stable seated position.

Children under 122 cm need an accompanying person.

JAWS

JAWS also has no height restriction when riding with an accompanying person.

However, even small children must be able to sit independently and maintain a stable seated position.

Because a giant shark suddenly appears and the attraction includes loud sounds and fire effects, it is also worth considering how scary it may feel, separately from the height requirement.

The theater-style “Detective Conan 4-D Live Show: Jewel Under the Starry Sky” is also listed by USJ as an attraction with no height restriction.

At 92 cm, the number of USJ attractions a child can ride increases significantly for the first time.

At 92 cm or taller, children can use the following attractions with an accompanying person.

Yoshi’s Adventure™

This ride takes you around SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™ aboard a Yoshi.

The required height is lower than for Mario Kart or Mine-Cart Madness, and children can experience it from 92 cm.

Because it moves at the slowest speed of any ride at USJ, it is also a good candidate for a small child’s first ride in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™.

Flight of the Hippogriff™

This outdoor coaster is in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™.

Although children can ride from 92 cm, unlike Yoshi’s Adventure™, this is a coaster that climbs a hill and then races along the track.

If your child meets the height requirement but has never ridden a roller coaster before, also consider whether the ride may be too scary.

Minion Freeze Ray Sliders

This ride in Minion Park is themed around an ice race.

107 cm is a major milestone for families visiting USJ with children.

That’s because the following popular attractions all become options at once:

For all three, children who are at least 107 cm but under 122 cm need an accompanying person.

Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge™

This is one of the signature attractions in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™.

Using AR technology, it creates the feeling that you are actually taking part in a Mario Kart race.

Children 107 cm or taller can use the attraction with an accompanying person.

It is also relatively approachable for children who are not comfortable with thrill rides but still want to ride Mario Kart.

Mine-Cart Madness™

It has the same height requirement as Mario Kart, but the intensity of the experience is quite different.

Mine-Cart Madness™ is a coaster where the mine cart races through the jungle.

Being tall enough at 107 cm does not mean the ride won’t be scary.

If your child does not like roller coasters, you might try Mario Kart, which has the same 107 cm requirement, first and see how they feel.

Jurassic Park – The Ride

You travel by boat through Jurassic Park, where dinosaurs live, and face a large drop at the end.

Although the ride is available from 107 cm, the final plunge is quite intense.

Among attractions available from 107 cm, it is better to consider this one on the scarier side.

What changes at 122 cm and up?

At 122 cm, it is not simply that “more new attractions become available.”

The biggest change is that

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™

These three cannot be used by riders under 132 cm even with an accompanying person.

Hollywood Dream – The Ride

This is one of USJ’s signature large coasters, racing high above the park while you listen to music.

The required height is 132 cm or taller even with an accompanying person.

Hollywood Dream – The Ride: Backdrop

This coaster runs Hollywood Dream – The Ride backward.

The Flying Dinosaur

This large coaster makes you feel as if you are being carried by a Pteranodon, flying in a nearly face-down position.

“Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End × Story Ride – Journey by Carriage with a Bird Monster,” running from Saturday, May 30, 2026 through Monday, January 11, 2027, is a limited-time ride experienced on Hollywood Dream – The Ride.

Therefore, it has the same minimum height requirement of 132 cm as Hollywood Dream – The Ride.

By height: What should you ride at USJ with children?

Now let’s apply the information above to an actual family visit to USJ.

If your child is 90 cm

They have not yet reached 92 cm, so they cannot ride attractions with a 92 cm minimum.

However, they can still focus on attractions such as

It does not mean there is “nothing they can ride.”

If your child is 95 cm

They have cleared the 92 cm threshold.

If your child is 105 cm

They can use attractions in the 92 cm and 102 cm groups.

However, because they have not yet reached 122 cm,

are still not available.

122 cm is a major dividing line at USJ.

If your child is 125 cm

Once they pass the 122 cm threshold, the range of attractions they can use increases considerably.

For many rides such as Mario Kart that previously required an accompanying person, the height requirement now allows them to ride without one.

They can also ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™.

However, Hollywood Dream and The Flying Dinosaur require 132 cm.

If your child is 135 cm

They have also cleared the 132 cm threshold.

The “scare factor” can be completely different even with the same height restriction

When visiting USJ with children, we do not recommend choosing attractions based on height alone.

The 107 cm group makes this especially clear.

Even though both require at least 107 cm,

Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge™

Mine-Cart Madness™

offer very different experiences.

Mario Kart is easy to enjoy with a game-like feel, while Mine-Cart Madness is a coaster with a real sense of speed.

Jurassic Park – The Ride also has a large drop at the end.

Use Child Switch when a child is too short for an attraction

If someone in your family cannot use an attraction because of a height restriction, Child Switch can be convenient.

Child Switch is a system for groups that include someone unable to use an attraction because of a height restriction or similar reason. It allows

accompanying adults to take turns using the attraction with only one wait in line.

For example, suppose

a father, mother, and a 100 cm child

go to Mario Kart. The 100 cm child cannot ride because they have not reached 107 cm.

Even in this situation, if the attraction is eligible, the adults can take turns enjoying it.

You do not need to think, “If our child can’t ride, the adults have to give it up too.”

If you want to use the service, tell a crew member at the eligible attraction that you would like to use Child Switch.

If you have a 92 cm child, make use of Yoyakunori

When visiting USJ with a small child, “Yoyakunori” can also be useful.

Yoyakunori is a free system that lets you reserve a time to use an eligible attraction and spend the time elsewhere until your reserved time.

Eligible attractions in 2026 include

and others.

Because young children do not have to spend a long time waiting in line, take advantage of it when available.

“No height restriction” does not always mean “anyone can ride”

This is especially important when visiting with babies or small children.

Even when the official USJ website says “no height restriction,”

each attraction may have separate usage requirements.

For example,

Hello Kitty’s Cupcake Dream requires riders to be able to sit independently and maintain a stable seated position.

JAWS also requires small children to sit independently.

In other words,

When using an attraction with a baby or small child, check with a crew member at the attraction entrance.

If your child is right on the height limit, do not plan on the assumption that the ride is guaranteed

If, for example,

“We measured at home and our child was exactly 107 cm,”

take extra care when your child is right at the height threshold.
