For USJ Halloween 2026, I finally experienced one of the attractions I had personally been looking forward to the most!
It’s “Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive.”
And the first thing I want to say after experiencing it is…

It’s close! The creatures are unbelievably close!!
This year’s Resident Evil experience isn’t just about something suddenly appearing to startle you.
You actually step into a meticulously built world and come face-to-face with zombies and creatures at “zero distance” in places with nowhere to escape.
It delivers a different kind of fear from what we’ve experienced before.
In this report, I’ll go into detail—with spoilers—about how scary it felt, the creatures that appear, and the queue details you absolutely shouldn’t miss!
※From this point on, this article discusses the attraction’s content, effects, and creatures. If you want to experience it knowing nothing in advance, please be careful.

Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive — Experience Report

Into the world of “Resident Evil Requiem”
Two key figures in this story are FBI agent Grace and the familiar Leon.
As they pursue a string of mysterious deaths, the story connects back to an incident from the past.
What especially impressed me about this attraction is that you aren’t pulled into the story only after the experience starts—the immersion begins while you’re still in the queue.
This is something I really want you to look at closely!
Don’t miss the queue—the detail is incredible
As you make your way toward the attraction, the scenery gradually transforms into the world of “Resident Evil,” with things like trash discarded in back alleys and crumbling bricks.
The environment is so carefully detailed that simply walking past everything would be a waste!
The queue also features video tied to this story.
The video is fairly long, and watching it closely makes it easier to understand what you’re about to get caught up in.
Rather than feeling like you’re merely waiting, it feels as though the attraction has already begun.
Don’t spend the entire wait just chatting—be sure to check out the surrounding decorations and video too.
Do the zombies still have “memories from when they were alive”?
If you look closely at the zombies that appear in the Requiem game, each one has its own distinct traits.
They don’t simply wander around indiscriminately; some behave in ways that suggest the jobs or habits they had while alive.
Knowing that makes them even more interesting to watch!
And one that made an especially strong impression was…
The enormous “Chef Zombie” is terrifying!

A blood-soaked apron and a blade.
And above all, it’s huge!
The intimidation you feel when the giant Chef Zombie appears right in front of you is intense.
It’s completely different from seeing it in game footage—just sharing the same space with a massive zombie is frightening.
The immersion really makes you feel as if you’ve stepped inside the game world.
And in this attraction, you don’t get to stand back and watch the zombie from a safe distance.
It’s close. Really close.
There are moments when you face a zombie from a distance that makes you think, “You mean I have to go through there!?” That inescapable closeness is a major part of what makes this experience scary.
In previous Resident Evil experiences, I never had to walk toward a zombie, but here, to reach the next room, you have to move in the direction where the zombie is.
On top of that, zombies persistently attack and follow from behind.
If you move too slowly, they catch up from behind, and before you know it, one can suddenly appear at your side—so close it feels like the zombie is one of your friends walking right next to you…
Then you finally reach the next door, only to find that it doesn’t open.
By the time the door finally opened, the two people behind me were joking, “Actually, our arms have already been cut a few times.” That’s how relentlessly zombies come at you from behind with chainsaws and other weapons.
The recreation of “The Girl” is amazing!

Another creature that really got me excited to see in person was “The Girl.”
Its huge body and bizarre appearance are incredibly imposing in the dark space!
Light is this creature’s weakness, and the staging makes use of that trait, so watch for it.
What surprised me most was how faithfully it was recreated.
It feels as if a creature from the game world has truly appeared right in front of you.
Scary—but you still want to look.
If you’re a Resident Evil fan, I think you’ll love that feeling!
You can also see the hand of “The Girl” in the Resident Evil merchandise shop, so be sure to check it out.
Lickers aren’t only above you—watch your feet too

Of course, the Licker, one of Resident Evil’s iconic creatures, also appears.
When you think of a Licker, you probably picture it crawling along walls and ceilings.
So you may find yourself watching above, thinking, “Maybe it’s up there…”
But don’t let your guard down around your feet either!
They lurk in all sorts of places, so you don’t know where to look.
And when a Licker is nearby, you naturally want to move as quietly as possible, holding your breath and trying not to make a sound.
It’s already dark and frightening, and then you have the added tension of moving quietly while staying alert to everything around you.
That kind of fear is distinctly Resident Evil and feels different from a simple haunted house.
I was screaming so much that it felt like a miracle the Licker didn’t notice me!
The scariest part is the “zero-distance” encounters!
What stayed with me most after the experience was just how close the creatures get.
There’s a zombie right in front of you.
But you can’t move forward unless you pass it.
Even if you’re thinking, “No way, I can’t do this!”, you still have to keep going.
You can’t just watch what’s ahead; in a space with nowhere to escape, it feels as though you’re being targeted from every direction.
You never know where something will come from.
And when it does, it gets extremely close!
That was the scariest part of “The Dive” for me.
More than jump scares, it’s the fear of having nowhere to escape
When you think of a horror attraction, you may picture something suddenly jumping out of the darkness and making you scream.
There are certainly startling moments here too, but personally, what I felt even more strongly was the psychological fear of being unable to get away from the creature right in front of me.
A zombie in the distance would be one thing.
But it’s standing exactly where you have to go.
You have to pass right beside it.
And something is closing in from behind too.
Being put in a situation where you think, “I don’t want to, but I have no choice but to go,” is what makes it frightening.
If horror isn’t your thing, you may need to prepare yourself for this one.
A must for Resident Evil fans!

I’ve talked a lot about how scary it is, but if you love Resident Evil, I really want you to experience it!
Being able to see creatures such as the Chef Zombie, The Girl, and Licker not on a screen but in the same physical space—and at extremely close range—is something only an attraction like this can offer.
From the world-building that starts in the queue, I strongly felt the immersion of “stepping into Resident Evil myself.”
Even though it’s scary, every time a creature appeared I also found myself thinking, “Whoa, that’s amazing!”
For fans, I think the fear itself becomes part of the fun.
Could it be too scary if you’re easily frightened?
Some people may be thinking, “I’m not good with horror, but I want to try it because it’s Resident Evil.”
The fear here comes from more than simple surprises: it combines darkness, the lack of escape routes, and how close the creatures get.
If you’re especially uncomfortable with horror where people or creatures come right up to you, you may find it very scary.
On the other hand, it’s highly recommended for people who love horror attractions or want to immerse themselves completely in the world of Resident Evil.
USJ Halloween 2026: Resident Evil fans should experience this!

After experiencing “Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive,” I felt that “zero distance” really is the perfect phrase for this year’s attraction.
A meticulously built environment, zombies and creatures lurking within it, and the fear of them closing in right before your eyes when there’s nowhere to escape.
It wasn’t simply a matter of thinking, “That was scary!”—the creatures and scenes stayed in my mind even after the experience ended.
If you’re going to experience it, I definitely recommend paying close attention to your surroundings starting from the queue.
The world of “Resident Evil Requiem” is built not only into the attraction itself, but also into the time you spend approaching it.
