What Is null⁴ (TetraNull)?

This Village will be installed in SATOYAMA Village at GREEN×EXPO 2027 (the Yokohama International Horticultural Expo).
Rather than relocating the hugely popular null² (Null-Null) from Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, it will be “reborn” in a new form.
The project is led by media artist Yoichi Ochiai, representative director of the general incorporated association Computational Nature.
null⁴ (TetraNull): Exhibit Details

The four TetraNull structures have mirror-like surfaces.
At Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, they pulsed through sound as though they were alive. At GREEN×EXPO 2027, the objects will rotate like giant prayer wheels.
Note: A prayer wheel is a rotating cylindrical Buddhist ritual object used in Tibetan Buddhism, with sacred texts placed inside. Turning it to the right, or clockwise, is believed to bring the same merit as reciting the scriptures.
Flowers in the garden beds, the sky, the wind, and visitors’ shadows will be drawn into the rotating mirrored surfaces. Visitors will be able to see the installation create a space as a living sculpture that transforms the surrounding scenery.
Within motion that seems to distill the soul, computational nature continues its digital fermentation, revealing a new cycle of environment and perception.
Note: “Distilling the soul” means purifying and concentrating the spirit or essence to its limit, or removing impurities to reveal its true form—an attempt to increase the density of existence.
The four mirrored bodies are also expected to rotate in slightly different ways.
What might those rotational differences, said to arise from the distinct ethics embodied by each one, actually look like?
null⁴ (TetraNull): Visitor Experience

According to Yoichi Ochiai’s official X account, null⁴ moves, but it is considered a structure.
Visitors will also be able to go inside.
The following is only a prediction by HAPPyELL’s editor-in-chief, so the actual experience may be completely different.
At Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, null² was connected to the Heart Sutra’s concept of emptiness.
null⁴ (TetraNull) is described as a prayer wheel, a Tibetan Buddhist ritual object that contains sacred texts.
The Heart Sutra is one of the most important scriptures in Tibetan Buddhism.
Using the Mirrored Body® app, which visitors could also experience at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, it appears that each visitor’s digital double will synchronize directly with the spatial production at null⁴.
Entering a prayer wheel may mean dissolving your own existence, in the form of a digital double, into a “rotating prayer—the process of emptiness.”
You may become “part of the cycle of prayer.” The boundary of the self could grow indistinct, creating the sensation that instead of turning something yourself, you are the one being turned.
null² → the concept of “emptiness” (the uncertainty of existence)
null⁴ → the “prayer wheel” (a structure that keeps that emptiness turning)
In one phrase, I predict it may offer an experience in which
“your existence becomes part of a rotating universe.”
I am already excited to discover what the actual experience will be like.

It will be located in SATOYAMA Village, the area farthest from the GREEN×EXPO 2027 entrance gate.
The route is expected to be approximately 1.5 km or more.
