Expo-Inspired Future Sleep Sensor Beds! Inside the Luxurious Rooms at THE PASONA natureverse retreat, a Preventive Wellness Retreat Aiming to Extend Healthy Life Expectancy

At a media preview, we toured two luxurious guest rooms at THE PASONA natureverse retreat, a new hotel that opened on Awaji Island in June 2026.

Even the Guest-Floor Hallways Feel Luxurious

The ocean side of the hotel evokes the horizontal line of the horizon, while the mountain side emphasizes vertical lines. Pillars near the entrance suggest trees growing tall and strong.
Seen from above, the building resembles the letter D. From the central atrium, its fan-shaped curve is also visible, giving the space an unmistakably luxurious feel.

At a time when many newly built hotels prioritize efficient, straight-lined designs, I was impressed by how lavishly this property was constructed.

The hallways on the guest room floors—the third, fourth, and fifth floors—feature

indigo-dyed washi wallpaper designed to evoke a journey upward from the sea into the sky.
The color gradually changes on each floor as it rises toward the sky.

The mountain side is finished in a persimmon-tannin hue.

Despite the building’s large scale, it has only 57 guest rooms, suggesting that each room is generously sized.

The Future of Sleep: Sensor Beds

Every guest room is equipped with a sensor bed that uses some of the technology featured in the concept bed displayed in the Future of Sleep area of the Body Zone at Pasona’s pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

Jointly developed by Nitori and MinebeaMitsumi, the bed detects a sleeper’s movements through data such as heart rate, breathing, and body weight, then reclines to a position designed to make sleeping more comfortable.

President Room

The President Room, the largest room on the top floor, is exceptionally spacious and includes an executive desk and a large table that can also be used for meetings.

The view of Osaka Bay from the sofa is also wonderful.

The scenic bath occupies a triangular space with glass walls on all three sides.
You can bathe while taking in both ocean and mountain views, with scenery in nearly every direction.

For privacy, electric curtains can completely block the view from outside.

Because the building resembles the Grand Ring, some guests may feel tempted to walk all the way around the rooftop, or top floor. However, partitions between hotel rooms prevent access from one room to the next.
The President Room is so large that guests can still enjoy walking across its spacious terrace.

The pier is visible from the terrace.
The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge can also be seen in the distance.

There is a bath on the terrace as well, so guests can relax in the hot spring while watching the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge illuminated at night.

All guest room baths are reportedly supplied with hot spring water.

The washbasin is beautifully designed as well.

Penthouse

The Penthouse is on the north side, opposite the President Room.
This room is furnished with pieces by the Italian brand Henry.

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge can be seen from both the bath and the terrace.

Room Rates

The rates are all-inclusive, covering accommodations, meals, thalassotherapy, yoga, and more.

For the four-day, three-night trial plan:
When two people share one room, rates start at $3,300.00 per person, approximately $3,312.50.
For one person staying alone, rates start at $4,875.00, including tax.

For the 30-night long-stay plan:
Rates start at $25,625.00 during the low season in January and February, and at $36,875.00 during regular periods outside the high season.
