Complete Guide to USJ’s 25th Anniversary Events in 2026: Parade, Shows, Limited-Time Events, and Dates
Why Are These Dates Crowded?
We often receive questions asking why dates forecast to be crowded, very crowded, or extremely crowded are expected to draw so many visitors.
Here are the most common reasons for heavy crowds.
Annual Pass blackout dates can be crowded.
Because Annual Passes without blackout dates are expensive, more middle school, high school, and university students are choosing the Annual Pass Light.
As a result, Crowds tend to be heavier the day before, the day after, and two days after an Annual Pass Light blackout date.
Recently, however, admission prices on blackout dates have been high, so the blackout dates themselves may sometimes be less crowded.
• A date when the Standard Annual Pass, one of the two Annual Pass types, cannot be used for admission
• Dates expected to be crowded are designated as blackout dates
Busy Days: Substitute School Holidays
Elementary school sports days and parent observation days are often held on Saturdays, making the following Monday a substitute holiday.
Many families from Osaka, Hyogo, and Kyoto visit on these substitute-holiday Mondays.
Busy Days: Spring and Winter Breaks
Spring break brings many graduating students on graduation trips, along with families.
Winter break also draws many visitors.
Note: Summer vacation is often not extremely crowded because of the intense heat and the availability of events outside USJ.

USJ Attendance
USJ has not published attendance figures since its management changed.
According to the annual report from TEA, the Themed Entertainment Association:
2024: 16 million visitors (3rd worldwide, 1st in Japan)
2023: 16 million visitors (3rd worldwide, 1st in Japan)
2022: 12.35 million visitors (3rd worldwide, 1st in Japan)
2021: 5.5 million visitors
2020: 4.9 million visitors
2019: 14.5 million visitors
The report states that USJ averaged about 44,000 visitors per day in both 2024 and 2023.
Because the busiest days draw around 80,000 visitors, less-busy days are estimated to have 20,000 to 30,000 visitors.
