USJ Coin Lockers 2026 | Locations Inside and Outside the Park and How to Store Luggage Without Mistakes

USJ Coin Lockers

The key to using USJ coin lockers is separating “luggage to store before entering” from “items you will use inside the park”

One surprisingly difficult question on a USJ day is what to do with your luggage.

Can you bring a suitcase?
Where should you put your winter coat?
Should you carry rain gear and a change of clothes all day?
Will you have to carry souvenirs around after buying them?

First-time visitors to Universal Studios Japan often get stuck on these questions.

In short, the basic rule at USJ is to store large luggage in lockers outside the park before entering.
Pack only what you need inside the park in a small bag. Traveling light makes it much easier to move between attractions, shows, photo spots, and restaurants.

Pay particular attention to large items such as rolling cases and suitcases.
Large luggage cannot be brought into the park, so decide where to store it before reaching security screening.

Another important point is that guests entering with a regular Studio Pass generally cannot re-enter once they leave the park.
So if you realize after entering, “I left my portable charger in an outside locker!”, you may need to rent one inside the park and incur an unexpected expense.

USJ Coin Locker Basics

USJ coin lockers

Use the lockers outside the park for large luggage.
Locations, sizes, payment methods, and whether items can be removed and returned vary by locker type.

  • Inside-park lockers are for smaller items used after entry
  • Outside-park lockers are for large luggage stored before entry
  • Extra-large lockers are available only outside the park
  • Cashless-only lockers are available only outside the park
  • Large luggage cannot be brought into the park
  • Because regular admission tickets do not allow re-entry, do not store anything you will need inside the park

Where Are the USJ Coin Lockers? Differences Between Lockers Inside and Outside the Park

USJ coin locker map

In 2026, the number of lockers inside the park was reduced. There is now one location outside the park, two locations between security screening and the entrance gates, and one location inside the park.

USJ coin lockers are broadly divided into “inside the park” and “outside the park,” and they are used differently.

The lockers between security screening and the entrance gates are inconvenient, so we do not recommend them.
Because they are outside the entrance gates, guests without an Annual Pass cannot retrieve items during their visit. Some are also difficult to access when leaving.
You also cannot store suitcases there. Perhaps because USJ does not recommend them either, these lockers are not shown on the official map.

If you are considering these lockers, we recommend using the lockers outside the park instead.

Outside-Park Lockers | For Suitcases and Large Luggage

Outside-park lockers are intended for luggage you want to store before entering.

If you are coming from far away, visiting USJ before hotel check-in, or arriving by overnight bus or Shinkansen and heading straight to the park, consider the outside-park lockers first.

Suitcases and rolling cases cannot be brought into the park, so they must be stored before entry.

The locker area is across from the security checkpoint that every guest passes and is very large, so it is hard to miss.
However, if you arrive after noon on an extremely busy day, the lockers may already be full.

Lockers large enough for suitcases may also fill up during peak travel periods.
If you arrive late, storing your luggage in Universal City is another good option.

USJ Coin Locker Prices and Size Guide

USJ coin locker fees vary by size.
Prices may change, so before your visit, check the latest information.

There are two types: cashless-only lockers and cash-only lockers.
Cash-only lockers are slightly wider and taller.
Cashless-only lockers are deeper, making it easier to fit more luggage. There are also more cashless-only lockers.

* Lockers outside the park can be used until two hours after park closing. After that, you cannot retrieve your belongings.
If you stay in the park until around closing and then eat dinner in Universal City before returning, more than two hours may pass and you may be unable to retrieve your luggage.

Inside-Park Lockers | For Coats and Small Carry-On Items

Inside-park lockers are useful for storing small items you no longer need after entering.

Examples include a winter coat once the day warms up, a raincoat after the rain stops, or souvenirs purchased during the day.
However, inside-park lockers are not designed for large suitcases.

Because they are available only after entry, inside-park lockers tend to fill early on busy days.
Watch availability from the morning on days when many guests want to store winter coats, summer changes of clothes, or raincoats.

Traveling light inside the park makes walking and watching shows more comfortable and helps photo sessions go smoothly.

Can You Bring a Suitcase into USJ?

Large luggage such as suitcases and rolling cases cannot be brought into the USJ park.

If you have a suitcase, decide where to store it before heading to security screening.

Our recommended order of priority is as follows.

1. Leave it with your hotel
2. Use an extra-large locker outside the park
3. Use a large locker or luggage storage service at Universal CityWalk Osaka
4. Store it at your departure station or a transfer station such as Osaka Station before traveling to USJ

If you are traveling to USJ from Shin-Osaka, Osaka, or Namba Station, storing luggage at a station along the way is also an option.
However, be sure to consider whether you will pass through the same station on your return trip.

For example, if you arrive via Shin-Osaka but plan to eat near Osaka Station before going to your hotel, returning to Shin-Osaka just to collect your luggage can be inconvenient.
Choosing a storage location based on your return route is the best way for long-distance visitors to avoid mistakes.

Do not judge locker fit by height alone.
Even if a rolling case appears short enough, it may not fit because of its depth or width.

For visitors coming from far away, prioritizing hotel storage is also a good choice when available.
If you are staying at an official hotel near USJ or another hotel around Universal City Station, leave your luggage at the hotel.

Important Notes When Using Lockers Outside the Park

The most important point is that you cannot easily return to an outside-park locker after entering.

As a rule, tickets other than Annual Passes do not allow re-entry.
Guests entering with a regular Studio Pass should store only items they will not need until they leave the park.

Items suitable for outside-park lockers include:

• Suitcase
• Rolling case
• Clothes for your hotel stay
• A coat you will not use
• Souvenirs you will not need until the trip home
• Large bag
• Items you will not use until evening

Conversely, the following should remain with you:

• Smartphone
• Wallet
Ticket(Tickets are generally QR codes, so you probably will not have a physical ticket.)
• Identification
• Portable charger
• Regular medication
• Children’s supplies
• Rain gear
• Items you may use that day to cope with heat or cold

Take particular care on rainy days.
Even if it is dry in the morning, rain may begin in the evening.
If you store a folding umbrella or raincoat outside the park, you will not be able to retrieve it when rain starts.

The same applies to cooling towels on hot days and gloves or disposable hand warmers in winter.
Bring anything you might use into the park in a compact form.

Friends Sharing One Locker Should Decide How to Manage It

Sharing one locker with friends can reduce the cost.
However, take care when managing the key or PIN.

Who will carry the key?
Might the group split up during the day?
Can everyone return to the locker at the same time?

Without deciding these things, you may end the night saying, “The person with the key is in another shop!”

It is also a good idea to photograph the locker location.
You will be tired when leaving USJ, and even if you thought you remembered in the morning, by night you may wonder, “Which locker was it again?”

Coin Lockers May Be Full on Busy Days

USJ coin lockers fill earlier on busier days.

Be especially careful on the following days and periods:

• Long weekends of three days or more
• Spring break
• Summer vacation
• Winter vacation
• Halloween season
• Christmas season
• Graduation-trip season

Summary | Decide Where to Store Your Luggage Before Visiting USJ

If you arrive at USJ early in the morning, we recommend using the lockers before security screening.

If you arrive before noon, storing your suitcase at “Keepen Azukaru Tokorona.” in Universal CityWalk near Universal City Station minimizes how far you need to carry it.

Before storing luggage, separate tickets, portable chargers, rain gear, hand warmers, medication, and other items you will need inside USJ so you do not lock them away by mistake.

USJ involves a great deal of walking, and your hands are often fuller than expected while taking photos, eating food, and waiting for shows.
Reducing your luggage helps you focus on enjoying the park.

Frequently Asked Questions About USJ Coin Lockers

Q. Can I bring a suitcase into USJ?

A. Large luggage such as suitcases and rolling cases cannot be brought into the park. Visitors coming from far away should plan to store them before entry in outside-park lockers, at their hotel, or in lockers near a station.

Q. Can I retrieve luggage from an outside-park locker during my visit?

A. Regular admission tickets do not permit re-entry, so you should not plan to retrieve items from an outside-park locker after entering. Keep your smartphone, wallet, ticket, portable charger, rain gear, medication, and other essentials with you.

Q. What time can I start using the coin lockers?

Universal CityWalk coin lockers can be used at any hour, including early morning and late at night.
The lockers in front of USJ security screening are not open early in the morning.

Q. What should families with children put in a locker?

A. Store changes of clothes and large items that will not be needed until you leave. Keep drinks, towels, regular medication, rain gear, and anything children may need immediately with you. Separating items needed now from items needed later is safer than storing everything.

Q. What should I do if no coin lockers are available?

A. Lockers may fill up on busy days. If you have large luggage, use “Keepen Azukaru Tokorona.” on the fourth floor of Universal CityWalk.
